Nanoelectrochemistry is a specialized field of electrochemistry that investigates charge transfer and chemical reactions occurring at the nanometer scale ($10^{-9}\text{m}$). When the dimensions of an electrode or a material decrease to the nanoscale, the surface-area-to-volume ratio increases dramatically, leading to unique electrochemical behaviors that differ significantly from those observed in bulk (macro) systems.
